frankie cut out a set of wrenches for me in corian when i was up in milwaukee last week. i modeled these after a couple wrenches i found in one of my dad's old barns, but added lightening holes and made them in metric sizes. i hope to get some drop forged soon, but will use this mock set to make a pattern for a leather tool roll. very cool, to be able to hold something physical though.

got home from milwaukee early this morning. in the process of cleaning and thinking about chair project for next weekend, i decided to cut out some legs for a hunk of wood i had gotten from franklin awhile back. nothing special, but fun to cruise the whole process very rapidly. nice to finally be able to set something up and the plasma cutter and actually cut it out without any hiccups.

i've never really considered myself to be an apple zealot, but who knows, i might be. at least one person really close to me tends to think of me as a genuflector to apple.

i don't know if its specific to apple, but it does follow along with my genuine admiration for talent, character, and work ethic. i get excited by apple products because they generally tend to work better, and make the user (me) feel like i'm not wasting my time dealing with problems that i shouldn't have to. there's nothing more frustrating than being in a situation that you don't want to be in, and that's something that apple (for the most part) seems to understand, and take into consideration before i'd have to.

i believe in technology. i believe that we're better off because of it, and i'm thankful that i've had many of the opportunities and life style because of that technology. its obviously something that has changed from the previous generation, and will only continue to change, hopefully for the better.

many things in my life, and in my friends lives have been affected by driven people, motivated people, inspiring people who no doubt got less sleep than they would have liked to. i'm taking a moment tonight to appreciate the things that exist today that are caused, or greatly affected by people like this.

i hope your final days on this planet were fulfilling, steve, and i hope you were able come to terms with your life as it was coming to a close. many were affected by you, and will never realize it, as is true with so many people in life, driven by life. i hope at some point you'd know that countless people would celebrate that for a short time, but some will appreciate that for a much longer time.

i'm super stoked to be on a nice moto, thinking in my own head, and enjoying the twisty roads. part of me feels like its when i'm most free. feels like you're flying on land, and you have control of your own little piece of atmosphere.

hope we don't get eaten by any bears, pumas, orangutans, or hyenas.

eric, be honest with yourself. things haven't been good in bloggy-land. you've made a lot of sacrifices to order your life in a certain way. you're greedy in this way, selfish even, and its affected a lot of other relationships. that might be bad, it might not be, i don't know, but you chose it. fact is, it's pretty well set up that way now, and you're not taking advantage of it. quit pretending, don't make decisions and then pretend you haven't. shut up and work, and for cripe's sake, stick with it for once. see something through.

did a little nesting this weekend. got the new table moved into its place after a little stripping, cleaning, and a fresh coat of oil, rewired the switch on one drill press, got the new (to me) air compressor in its home, and built some struts for the old work table to make not so flimsy. gotta love a good solid table surface to work on. also started moving stuff around to use space better. i have so many tools that are falling apart and are in need of love. i guess that's what you get when you're a scavenger. next stop, fixing band saw and rewiring shop.

its been a real long time since i've updated progress from bones class. still working at it, albeit not as diligently as i should. i'm working through a complete skull right now, which is proving challenging with the soft clay. also been sculpting sacrums at home to keep my homework quota at an acceptable level.

since i haven't been posting as much drawing lately, i thought i might as well put up some stuff i have been doing. i cut out a bunch of knife blanks for a design class at UIC doing a cutlery assignment. fun little project. got me doing a lot more to get better at using the plasma cutter as well, hopefully i'll be able to use this much more soon. it has its limitations, but there's still a lot i feel i can accomplish with it.

i can't imagine ever primping as much as this lady does in the morning sometimes. she wasn't today, but i think you got her haircut last week. you ever notice how people have very similar looks when analyzing their own looks in the mirror? i think they do. its this head slightly tilted forward, eyes slightly narrowed, brows slightly furrowed kind of look.
